During the period from May 2004 to September 2004, caecal samples were collected from 683 broiler flocks and examined for the presence of Campylobacter spp. Evaluation of the data has supported the results obtained by other authors (Pearson and Healing, 1992; Bouwknegt et al., 2001; Dioninisi et al., 2001; Wedderkopp et al., 2001), i.e. that the level of Campylobacter contamination in the flocks was subject to seasonal variation and particularly high during the summer months.
