Nanofasern und ultrafeine Fasern (Durchmesser >1 µm) in textiler Form eines Vliesstoffs oder Garns weisen sehr gute Eigenschaften für Anwendungen wie Tissue Engineering, medizinische Produkte mit Wirkstofffreisetzung, Filtration, Katalyse, aber auch technische Textilien und Schutzkleidung auf. Zu diesen Eigenschaften gehören eine hohe spezifische Oberfläche, eine verbundene Porenstruktur und einstell­bare Porengrößen. Für die Herstellung von Fasern mit einem Durchmesser von weniger als einem Mikrometer werden verschiedene Technologien wie das Melt Blowing, Bikomponentenspinnverfahren, Zentrifugalspinnen oder Elektrospinnen verwendet. Die meisten Verfahren sind entweder mit hohen Investitions- und Betriebskosten verbunden und auf wenige Polymere oder Materialkombinationen beschränkt oder sie erzeugen breit gestreute und ungleichmäßige Faserdurchmesser. Das Elektrospinnen aus Polymerlösungen ist aufgrund seiner Einfachheit und Kosteneffizienz sowie der hohen Materialkompatibilität die praktikabelste Methode zur Herstellung von Nanofasern.1,2
