Best Food, Relaxed Mood
Décontracté. A French word for a modern lifestyle: relaxed, laidback, casual. Till recently none of these terms had anything to do with the places you go to eat the best food available. Young people - interested in food - would hesitate, even if they had the means, to book a table at a two or three star haute cuisine temple. To bring in a new generation of enthusiasts for top cooking, finally top chefs have taken the lead. Breaking out of their whites, to dress in black (Joël Robuchon) and bringing the kitchen into the dining room (Robuchon and Alain Dutournier in France, Paul Heathcote in the UK) these chefs are out to present theatre, to interact - and to have their staff interact - with those who come to eat their food.
