Festive Spirit
For some segments of the hospitality industry the upcoming holiday season makes up for an important share of the yearly revenue. In many parts of the world, the run-up to Christmas with staff parties, family outings and rising consumer spending in general provides a good opportunity to complete the year successfully. In the Middle East, Christmas is not observed as a public holiday, nevertheless the hotel industry and particularly its five star segment are profiting from the occasion with sumptuous Christmas brunches and exquisite gala dinners on New Year’s Eve. Moreover, some of the region’s Christmas markets are enormously popular with tourists, expats and locals alike. Bettina Quabius reports.
